Explicação das casas (Explanations of Houses) is one of several “explanations” that the poet Daniel Faria published in 1998 in his book Explicações das árvores e de outros animais (Explanations of trees and other animals).
The house was for Daniel a symbol of reference in his extensive work, despite his premature death, and merges with the construction of his own subjectivity. A metaphor for a transitory encounter, the house as an inside-place was never, for the poet, closed in on itself, on the contrary, it is a place for others built a little above the ground, as if it were levitating.
Samuel Silva and Duarte Amorim chose Explicação das casas as a pretext to design the space through light and sound. Daniel’s verses are the triggers for the creation of compositions, drawings, and light movements intensified by a soundscape created by the Haarvöl.
Levitação (Levitation) leads us to a suspension in which the poet’s words give way to gravityless architectures halfway between something.
